Draft. This text is a draft and is waiting for J4E’s legal review. It may change before it is final.
J4E India is a community for entrepreneurs. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep about you, who can see it and what you can do about it. It covers the J4E app and this website.
1. What we collect
When you join and use J4E we keep:
- Your email address, which is how you log in (we send a 6-digit code; there are no passwords).
- Your name, designation and mobile number. Your mobile number is not verified; we take it as you give it.
- Your business profile: business name, category, city, area, a short description, what you offer, what you need, links, opening hours and any photos you upload.
- Your answers to events (Coming or Not coming), entry passes, and check-ins at events.
- If you use the app and allow notifications: a device token and device type, so we can send you event reminders.
- Basic technical records needed to keep the service safe, such as login attempts and a log of searches (without your identity).
2. Who can see it
Contact details are for members only. Your mobile number, email and address are shown only to people who are logged in to J4E. They are never shown to visitors, never appear on public pages, and are not in any public list that search engines can read.
Your name, business name, photo, category, city, short description and what you offer appear on your public member page and in the directory, because that is how other entrepreneurs find you. You can hide your profile from the directory at any time in your profile settings.
The J4E team can see members’ details to run the community (for example to check people in at events). We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
3. What is public
Visitors who are not logged in can see: your name, business name, tagline, category, city and area, your photo, the services and products you list, and event pages with the number of people coming (not their names). They cannot see any phone number, email address or street address.
5. How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your profile for as long as you are a member. You can delete your account in the app (Me, then Delete account) or on this website.
- Your profile leaves the directory straight away.
- For 30 days you can change your mind and restore the account by logging in again.
- After 30 days it is deleted for good, including your photos. Some records may stay for a short time in backups, and we keep what the law requires us to keep.
6. Download your data
You can download a copy of what we hold about you from your account, in a common file format (JSON).
7. Your rights (DPDP Act, 2023)
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to:
- know what personal data we process and why;
- correct or update your data (you can edit it yourself in your profile);
- ask us to erase it (delete your account, as above);
- withdraw your consent, for example by turning off notifications or hiding your profile;
- get your grievance heard and answered, and complain to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
8. Questions and grievances
Reach us through the Help screen in the J4E app. Tell us what you need and which email you use with J4E. We aim to reply within 7 days.
9. Children
J4E is for business owners and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has joined, tell us and we will remove the account.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell members in the app. Older versions are available on request.
